On July 11, 2017, the Digital Ukraine Forum was held, which was the platform for joint work on digital transformations in the country between government, business and public associations.
“Digital technologies” are the basis of Ukraine’s welfare. This is the world where new opportunities are created, the sphere that determines the essence of transformations in the country – for better life, wo
rk, creativity, education, recreation of adults and children in Ukraine and around the world.
The main topics of discussion and priority areas for introduction of digital transformations were named:
- Digitalization of the public sector;
- Digital infrastructure, overcoming digital inequality;
- CashLessEconomy, Smart Contracts, Smart Fonts.
Opened a forum by Stepan KUBIV – First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine, and noted: “Ukraine is among the top 20 countries in the world in terms of exports of IT products. Of course, we have more than 100,000 Ukrainian IT professionals and more than 5,000 IT companies. ” But this is not enough, because “the pace of development must be accelerated urgently.” To make the changes better, “there is a need to overcome the gap between the government – science and business. World practice confirms that the customer of the scientific development is always a business. Therefore, science should work in pair with industry. And the authorities will continue to create a favorable legal field. Today, the Government has focused on three blocks of issues: legislation, investment-innovation policy and large investment projects. ” Many of the structures for launching complex innovative projects, including those related to the mobile Internet, are working to solve these problems. Stepan Kubiv concludes his statement: “… the recent decision by the Government to approve transparent conditions for the introduction of 4G communications in Ukraine is important. Ukraine today has all the components for a successful digital transformation and development of the digital economy. ”
The participants and guests of the Forum were congratulated by Dmytro Shimkiv – Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration, Oleksandr DANCHENKO – People’s Deputy of Ukraine, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Information and Communication, Petro CHERNISHOV – President of Kyivstar. It was noted that the introduction of digital technologies, and in particular 4G, is hampered by a very outdated regulatory framework. Dmitry Shimkiv dwell on three issues that most need to be digitized: security, accessibility, innovation in the future. Do we have staff to serve these areas? Where do we find the specialists of the right level today? These issues require an urgent solution.
Li Yang GU – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Ukraine – noted the close interaction of state structures and innovative specialists of Ukraine and emphasized the need for further cooperation.
Peter CHERNYSHOV – Kyivstar President – expressed the hope that all mobile operators will compete with each other and are already rapidly developing digital technologies.
In a video address to the participants of the forum, MP of the European Parliament, Mikhail BONI, in particular, said: “I want to make it clear that Ukraine is one of the most successful European countries in the digital sphere, and you have significant achievements in digital solutions.”
During the Forum several panel discussions took place, and all speakers noted the importance of high-quality Internet coverage, increasing the speed of the Internet, introducing technologies that have already been mastered by other countries in Ukraine. Each panel discussion ended with answers to questions from the hall.
Among the Forum’s participants were Oleksandr RYZHENKO, Head of the State Agency for E-Governance in Ukraine, Oleksandr ZHIVOTOVSKY, Head of the National Commission for State Regulation in the Communications and Informatization, as well as representatives of diplomatic missions. Representatives of the legislative and executive authorities, representatives of business and expert environment, as well as the public, took part in the Forum’s work and professional discussion of the whole spectrum of issues related to the digital transformation of Ukraine.

Within the framework of the event, there was a location for performances and a demo zone where start-up projects for agrarian business, medicine, alternative energy and security of electronic devices, as well as projects in virtual reality format were shown, one of which makes it possible to make an online journey On Chornobyl, and an information system for the safety of your car, and much more interesting.
The general conclusion of an event that can motivate professionals for innovation and discovery is that digital technology needs urgent implementation in those spheres of life
